Student Tech Meetup talk

by sigmaris on February 18th, 2010

On Wednesday, I gave a talk at the Student Techmeetup here in Edinburgh on DS homebrew development. As promised, I’ve uploaded the slides from that talk as a PDF here, with links to a few tutorials and resources included in them, along with some notes.

  1. My daughter has one. It’s a nice ltltie system. Very small and portable, and the touch screen on the bottom works well. The handwriting detection (when you write on the touch screen with the stylus) is so-so: it detects numbers very well, but it has trouble with letters of the alphabet. For example, I have a hard time writing the letter g such that the game understands me consistently. The wireless capability it has to hook up with other people is pretty cool. If you find yourself in a public place, you can try connecting with people to see who you find. A young friend of mine went trolling like that and connected with a friend of hers totally unexpectedly. But be careful there may be people out there you don’t want to connect with! These people really are dangerous, and your life isn’t worth a ltltie fun. Always tell your parents if you want to try that.Make sure you buy a ltltie travel case to protect it. They don’t cost much, and you want to take care of it. It (the case) holds three games in addition to the one in the game.Anyway, congratulations! You’ll have fun with it.
